Find below the new and improved program for the Master Entrepreneurship starting in September 2019.
This new program:
- Offers two new inspiring courses in block 1 providing you in-depth knowledge on key concepts of entrepreneurship.
- Offers more opportunities to put theory into practice (e.g. The Startup Project, Venture Challenge, Internship).
- Has a better alignment among the courses.
- Allows for choosing a 'focus' area (e.g. focus on social entrepreneurship, tech entrepreneurship, creative entrepreneurship).
Block 1 | Sep - Oct
The Entrepreneurial Venture (VU)
This course deals with the development of the entrepreneurial venture during its lifecycle. Topics: New venture creation, From startup to scale-up, Further development along the lifecycle of the firm.

The Entrepreneurial Individual (VU)
This course deals with different aspects of the entrepreneurial individual. Topics: Entrepreneurial Personality, Motives, Competencies, Cognitive biases, Learning and failure in the entrepreneurship process.

Block 2 | Nov - Dec
The Startup Project (UvA)
In this course you will acquire knowledge and understanding of the methods and tools from Design Thinking and Lean Startup. By applying these methodologies and (digital) validation tools you will develop and validate an innovative business idea.

This course focuses on entrepreneurship in the context of existing organisations and tries to find answers to questions such as: What is corporate entrepreneurship? How does entrepreneurship manifest itself in the context of organisations?

This course deals with the question how entrepreneurial activity can be
a vehicle for creating a better world, an idea often described under the

Thesis Proposal Entrepreneurship (VU)
This course prepares students for their master thesis project.

Block 4 | Feb - Mar
Venture Challenge (UvA)
During the Venture Challenge your team will solve a real-life entrepreneurial challenge for a startup, scale-up or (corporate) incubator. You will come up with recommendations and an implementation plan by conducting research in close collaboration/consultation with the venture.

Entrepreneurial Finance (UvA)
This course provides an in-depth knowledge base of the financial issues involved in turning business opportunities into action.
Please note: Especially for students who lack sufficient mathematical background this course might be challenging. Please let us know if you think you need suggestions for online courses to get well prepared.

Master's Thesis Entrepreneurship (UvA)
The main purpose of a Master’s thesis is to train the ability to independently develop and conduct original and relevant research. The Master's thesis must be written about a subject that is closely related to the field of entrepreneurship.

Behavioural Strategy (VU)
This cours is aimed at strategy realization. How can we change results and behaviors? The robust science of behavior analysis (started by Ivan Pavlov) is learned and applied by the student in a real life case.

Enterprising Skills (VU)
This course allows students to study as well as practice the so-called soft skills underlying entrepreneurship, such as generating ideas for opportunities, taking action, perseverance, teamwork, networking, and influence.

Real Estate Management (VU)
Students study the characteristics of mortgage loans used by households
to finance the purchase of a house, the functioning of the Dutch housing market including the role of policy interventions (notably mortgage interest deductibility and spatial planning), and the role of housing corporations.Credits: 6
